If you want to create a paypal button to put on your webpage, you have come to the right place. Accepting money from customers has never been easy and with the Paypal button that we are going to install, you will be able to accept credit cards or Paypal directly from your website.
You should check with your business advisor to see if you need a business account for your website and sign up for one with Paypal before doing this. Also, follow the instructions in step 12 to avoid having to go back to do this. There are 14 "steps" to creating a button, but they are all within a couple of pages, so this whole process is really easy.
Paypal Button Tutorial:
Step 1. Click on Merchant Services
Step 2. Click the Buy Now Button
Step 3. Enter the Item Details - Note: these will show up on the customer's invoice, so choose carefully
Step 4. Choose the Button you like - My suggestion is that you choose one of their buttons rather than your own image because if your button image is not hosted on a secure server, when the customer clicks, they will see a note that says "connection not secure." I've found the big PayPal Buy Now button does the best for sales.
Step 5. You definitely need to encrypt your item data
Step 6. If you need shipping or tax, enter these items next. The best thing about selling digital products is that there is no shipping.
Step 7. You want to customize your order page so that your company logo comes up when they are buying.. this makes the transition easier for the buyer. This is a simple step- just upload your image! You can also make this image your default image in your profile preferences to avoid doing this every time for different types of products
Step 8. I use the successful payment URL as the download page or even a squeeze page. (This is a great secret- Add an opt-in form to the confirmation page to encourage people to opt-in to your newsletter who are buyers. Of course, if they don't want to opt-in, you need a link to your download page on here as well, or even just have the product on the same page to download).
Step 9. If you want to add a cancel payment url, you can do it here. I usually redirect them to the sales page in case they want to reconsider.
Step 10. If they can purchase more than one item, set that preference here. If you need a shipping address, add it here too.
Step 11. Including a note- If you promote a product to a sales page, this is the part to add a special note if your subscribers get a bonus or something. Otherwise, skip this.
Step 12. Your email address is where you will be notified of payment. I set up a separate email for this in My Account- Profile- Add Email
Step 13. Add the code to your page where you want the button to be, and you will be all set. I usually test at this point for two reasons. This lets me know that the download process works and for first timers, lets you practice giving refunds, which are rare but they happen
Step 14. Refunds if need be-
1. History
2. Find the payment you want refunded
3. Details
4. Issue Refund.
I hope you receive many sales.
